About
WORK
Helping people share knowledge through clear language and organised information is what I love to do. My expertise in editing and publications management has grown over twenty years in this field, and I remain passionate about transforming ideas into words, guiding projects from concept to publication, and connecting writers with readers.
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, I worked briefly in research before adjusting my career path and gaining a qualification in professional writing and editing. Since then, I’ve worked in house and as a freelance or consultant editor for academic publishers (Wiley, Springer Nature Group), intergovernmental organisations (United Nations Climate Change, FAO, UNESCO) and several other organisations (e.g. Pacific Community, GGGI, SIPRI). My experience spans book, journal and report production, and content in diverse disciplines of the natural and social sciences. I now specialise in editing documents, publications and other knowledge products addressing global environmental and societal challenges, and I particularly enjoy working with organisations focused on bridging science and policy.
Creative
Books have been making an impression from the time when little me would read to be amazed by stories of unknown places and people’s adventures. Older me is passionate about fiction that provokes thought about our breathtaking world as it entertains. I’m also interested in how storytelling can promote science in popular culture. Though my journey to writing took time, once I sat down to it, I poured my energy into researching and writing my first novel. I’ve written ‘the end’ on it and am hoping to find a publisher. In the meantime – after taking a few deep breaths – I’ve begun work on my second novel.
I’m based in Melbourne, Australia, but work with clients from around the world.
